Years ago, Hubby and I visited @afghancuisineazro for the first time and thought to go back again with Dad. It’s in the same plaza as Sushishima and European Dumplings on NW Military Highway.

Mr. Bayat greeted us warmly, sat us down, and took our orders. Dad had Sprite, and Hubby and I both had Chai Nana, hot tea with fresh spearmint leaves. We tried the Appetizer Sampler which was a combo of Bolani Gandana (leek), Bolani Kochaloo (potato), Sambosa, and Mantoo (dumplings). There were 3 of each appetizer, which was perfect for 3 of us. We shared the Chalow Kadu (sweet pumpkin) with white basmati rice and Narenj Palow (lamb shank) with saffron rice, topped with candied orange peels, pistachios, and cardamom. Mr. Bayat checked on us then Amir, his son, recommended the Ferni dessert. First time to try the ferni, a milk custard pudding made with almonds, cardamom, and a hint of rosewater, topped with crushed pistachios. The texture reminds me of a firm flan and the taste reminded me of almond jello. Definitely highly recommended.

Food has a lot of flavor but unfortunately small portions. We got the combination kebab, and the protein portions were small. There was more rice than meat. The mint tea was out of the world. Goes well with the dish. The servers were very attentive.

The food was fresh and seemed to be made to order. The vibe of the restaurant was chill, although slightly too quiet. We tried two appetizers, which were very tasty. Though, I would settle for the mantoo over the aushak if you are trying to receive a bit more volume for your money.
I enjoyed my combination kabob plate, and the rice with raisins and carrots went well with the dish.
Unfortunately, the Mrs. did not care too much for her Quorma. The flavor was middle of the road and honestly did not come with much meat at all.
Overall, I would reccomend, especially if your are familiar with this type of cuisine, as it is made with care and overall tasty. Prices are OK, but the quality was very good.

My friend and I had a wonderful experience here. I am upset that I didn't try this sooner. This is a family run business, and everything is made with a lot of love. You can taste it in the food. The portions are good and the price is more than fair. We enjoyed everything that we tried. Started off with the mint tea, dumplings, and eggplant spread. Finished with the kebab combo plate with saffron rice and lamb shank with saffron rice. Both entrees came with a refreshing salad with yummy yogurt dressing. The whole experience was very pleasant and I can't wait to return.

Food was tasty!! Meat was very tender, falls off the bone easily. Appetizer Samplers suited for a party of 6. We enjoyed the quiet ambiance. Overall lovely experience, will definitely be back again.

This is honestly the best meat I've had in SA. We've gotten kabuli and Uzbeki plov (I am from kz and grew up on plov from that region) and Uzbek plov very similar to what I would have expected there. Both are some of the best rice dishes I've had in SA even though I'm not fan of raisins in plov in general (personal preference and always make plov without raisins myself)
Lamb (ribs and shank which are cooked differently and appropriately for each, grill vs slow cooked) are extremely flavorful and marinades and spices really show themselves. Also got some minced beef and it was absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. Moist and tender inside with clear fire char on the outside.
Lamb shanks are appropriately fatty for the cuisine, I would even say on a leaner side for Uzbek/Kazakh lamb.
